You should never pay full price for a mattress. They are on sale so often, we have a difficult time tracking their street prices. You only have to wait a few weeks (if that) to find them at a discount. Right now is one of those times. If you’re in need of a better night’s sleep, almost every mattress we like is on sale for Black Friday. All the prices listed here are for the queen size.
If you have no idea where to start, see our full guide to the best mattresses in a box to get a better idea of what you’re looking for.
Special offer for Gear readers: Get a 1-Year subscription to WIRED for $5 ($25 off). This includes unlimited access to WIRED.com and our print magazine (if you’d like). Subscriptions help fund the work we do every day.
Updated November 26: We’ve added more deals on the Tulo, Tuft & Needle, and Casper mattresses.

Our Favorite Mattress Deals
The Helix Midnight Luxe is our favorite mattress. Its plush top has the perfect amount of cushioning, and it’s just all-around comfortable—and worth the extra cost if you can afford it. For $200 off the queen size, use the code BLACKFRIDAY200 at checkout. If you order a size smaller than queen, use the code BLACKFRIDAY150 for $150 off orders of $1,250 or more, or use BLACKFRIDAY100 for a discount on a $600 order. It comes with two free pillows.
This is another favorite of ours. It’s not quite as luxurious as the Helix, but it’s a few hundred dollars less. Reviews editor Jeffrey Van Camp kept coming back to this mattress during testing because its got that soft-yet-firm feel, with just enough pressure-relief.
If you’re wondering what “Hybrid” means
Most mattresses that you order online are made of various densities of memory foam, and they arrive at your door vacuum sealed, rolled up in a box. Some are only made of three to five layers of memory foam, but our favorite models tend to be “hybrid” mattresses. Hybrids also have hundreds (sometimes more than 1,000) of individually wrapped springs sandwiched between those layers of memory foam. This gives them some of the best qualities of traditional box-spring mattresses and the newer memory foam models. They tend to be more supportive, and the coils help with airflow, so they sometimes stay a tad cooler at night.
